HerstoriesCafe bridges women’s history with local history. We start conversations between history enthusiasts, historians, archivists, museum practitioners, history teachers, and students.
We provide a much-needed forum for those who are passionate about promoting women’s history and want to feel connected to a larger community of like-minded people.
Think of it as a salon: a place to share ideas, pool historical resources, and stimulate debate in an intimate and relaxed setting.
Our speakers cover a wide range of topics but are united in their interest in women’s stories. Cafe talks are located throughout the city of Toronto, in places historically relevant to the evening’s topic, and often include an on-site historical walking tour. HerstoriesCafe is also committed to supporting all things local: speakers will emphasize local women’s histories in particular, and talks will be held at small local cafes and support local business venues whenever possible.
